Tobacco Use in District Vehicles and Facilities

Purpose

To establish guidelines for tobacco use on or in any District emergency vehicle and to establish guidelines which will delineate areas in District facilities that shall be smoke free for the comfort and convenience of the public and co-workers as well as establish areas where smoking will be permitted for the comfort and convenience of smokers.

Scope

This order shall pertain to all personnel riding or working in any District emergency vehicle and to all District facilities and persons frequenting those facilities.

Responsibility

It shall be the responsibility of all District personnel to ensure the intent of this order be followed.

Procedure

No person shall be permitted to use any tobacco product when riding on or in any District emergency vehicle.

Non-smoking areas in District facilities shall be determined by consensus of station personnel with consideration for the general public and compliance with ORS 433.850

Violation of this policy is subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination covered in the disciplinary action SOG.
