Purpose
The Radio Procedure Guideline is created to provide a consistent means for the District and Firefighters to monitor the status of equipment in the District.
Scope
This order will apply to all District personnel driving District equipment.
Responsibility
It shall be the responsibility of all District personnel to insure that the intent of this order be followed.
Procedure
All District personnel who engage in driving District equipment will, upon leaving the station, contact Dispatch by radio and inform them that the equipment leaving the station will be "on the air in District" and then state their purpose or destination.
When destination is attained, Dispatch will be notified that the equipment has arrived at its destination, i.e.: "8111 will be out at Station 83".
When changing location, Dispatch will be notified.
When returning to your home station, notify Dispatch that you are "on the air in District and returning to quarters".
Upon arriving back in quarters, Dispatch will be notified that you are secure, i.e.: "8111 secure in quarters".
In order to keep radio traffic to a minimum, the Fire Chief, Fire Prevention Officer, and Maintenance Officer are exempt from this General Order during non-emergency situations.
