Grievance Committee

The grievance committee will consist of a five person randomly selected panel. This panel will include one person from the Board of Directors, the President or Vice President of the Volunteer Firefighters Assoc., chaplain, and two members of our community, one of which to be selected by the grieving party. The chairperson for the grievance committee panel is the Board of Directors member present.

  • Board position randomly selected from 5 existing positions
  • President or Vice President of the Volunteer Association.
  • Chaplain, whichever one is available.
  • Community Seat randomly selected from group of 6 individuals.
  • Community Seat selected by the grieving party cannot be a relative.

The grievance committee will meet on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Station 81 in Cloverdale. This committee will meet only if there have been written grievances submitted, at least 72 hours prior to the meeting time, to the Admin. office in Cloverdale. These grievances can be from volunteers, the community or the staff.

The grievance discussed will be carefully weighed and a determination will be made. If the person filing the grievance would like to be interviewed at the meeting, this request must be made in writing and accompany the grievance when delivered to Admin., otherwise the written information is all that will be considered in the determination. All District policies will be followed. The committee’s determination will be either to dismiss the grievance, handle the grievance or pass it on to the Management Team for further consideration and follow through.

Any grievances from either volunteer or staff must have already gone through the chain of command before ever coming to the grievance committee as per District policy.
