Cadet Program Guidelines

Purpose

The purpose of the cadet program is to enhance emergency scene operations as well as non-emergency operations and to promote the development of the communities young people into the fire service.

Scope

The cadet program guideline is created to provide a viable, constant means for the cadets to function within the structure of the District's operational plan.

Responsibility

It is the responsibility of all District personnel and all cadets to assure that all cadet operations are within the District's guidelines.

Procedure

The cadets will operate within the following guidelines and procedures:

  1. Cadets operate by the will of the Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District.
  2. Cadets may respond to emergency calls within the procedures outlined in the Cadet Response Guideline.
  3. Cadets will successfully complete all training pertinent to their level of response.
  4. Cadets will act only under the supervision of District personnel.
  5. Cadets will be sixteen (16) to eighteen (18) years of age.
  6. Cadets will maintain a current level of training by attending a minimum of fifty (50) percent of the cadet training provided by the District each year.
  7. Cadets will be provided appropriate equipment for their level of service by the District.
