Busy Weekend

The District had a busy weekend beginning the 19th. There were two structure fires over the weekend and a brush fire Monday night.

Friday night there was a wall fire in one of units at the Breakers in Neskowin. Fortunately the fire remained confined to an area around the chimney chaseway.  Damage to the building was minor compared to what it could have been.  The crews that responded did a great job.

Sunday morning the Riverhouse Resturant has a fire in the kitchen. There was serious damage to the food preperation area with heat and smoke damage to the entire resturant.  The owner is moving forward to rebuild and open as soon as possible. The crews that responded did a great job and confined the damage to the involved areas.

Monday afternoon saw the advent of this year's first brush fire.  The fire occurred in a privately owned clear cut and spread from a permitted slash burn.  Nestucca crews with the help of the US Forest Service worked to put out fire.  This fire was a good reminder that even in the wetter times of the year wildland fires can still be a danger.
